League of Legends Challenges Explained (2025)

League of Legends Challenges are a built-in achievement and progression system that lets players pursue alternate objectives beyond just winning games. Released in 2022, this feature tracks your performance across numerous categories.

Challenges function similarly to Champion Eternals, but with one major difference. While Eternals track specific stats for individual champions, Challenges count progress across your entire account. The system includes hundreds of challenges with different tiers ranging from Iron to Challenger.

In this article, we'll explore everything you need to know about Challenges in League of Legends, including challenge types, what you get for completing them, and effective ways to track your progress.

Types of Challenges

League of Legends features over 400 challenges in-game that fall under 6 categories:

  • Expertise

  • Teamwork & Strategy

  • Imagination

  • Veterancy

  • Collection

  • Legacy

The first five categories track active progress and contribute to your overall Challenge Crystal rank. Legacy challenges focus on season-based accomplishments and past achievements that are no longer obtainable. Progress on Legacy challenges doesn't count toward your Crystal rank, and you can't level up the Legacy category itself.

Challenge Rewards

Completing challenges rewards you with three main items, Tokens, Titles, and Challenge Points:

  1. Tokens are unique icons that represent each challenge and change color as you rank them up. You can equip up to three tokens at a time, and they display on your profile, lobby, and loading screen.

  2. Titles are special names earned by reaching specific tiers in certain challenges. You can freely switch between any titles you've unlocked, and they appear on your profile, lobby, and loading screen alongside your tokens.

  3. Challenge Points accumulate from completing objectives and contribute to your overall Crystal rank. This Crystal displays on your profile and summarizes your total Challenge mastery, ranging from Unranked to Challenger.

How to Track Your Challenges Progress

Players can track their challenges directly through the League of Legends client. Here's how:

  1. Launch League of Legends Client

  2. Click on your profile in the top right corner

  3. Navigate to the "Challenges" tab

This gives you access to all your challenges in one place, though the client interface can be confusing. Community-created tools like the DarkIntaqt Challenge Progress Tracker offer a cleaner alternative. It provides easier navigation and includes leaderboards where you can check the top players for each specific challenge.

Final Words

The Challenges system tracks your accomplishments across hundreds of objectives, rewarding you with tokens, titles, and a Crystal rank that showcases your overall mastery. Challenges provide goals that suit different playstyles. Use the in-game client or community trackers to monitor your progress and see how you stack up against other players on the leaderboards.
