The Sanctum

The Sanctum is a gacha-based system in League of Legends where players use Ancient Sparks to unlock exclusive cosmetics. It was introduced in patch 14.24 and serves as the only way to obtain Exalted-tier skins and Mythic Variants.

The system operates through rotating banners, with two main types: Exalted Skins and Mythic Variants. Each banner features different rewards organized into three tiers. S Tier contains the featured premium skin, A Tier includes secondary rewards like Exalted Chromas and various skins, while B Tier offers lower-value items such as emotes and icons.

The system includes bad-luck protection to ensure you eventually get the item you want. For Exalted skins, the base drop rate is 0.5%, but you're guaranteed to unlock it within 80 pulls. Mythic Variants require only 40 pulls for guaranteed acquisition. Your progress toward these guarantees carries over between banners of the same type.

Ancient Sparks are the exclusive currency used in the Sanctum system. Each Ancient Spark costs 400 RP and doesn't expire, allowing you to save them for future content. Players can purchase up to 250 Ancient Sparks per day, totaling 100,000 RP.

There are three main methods to acquire Ancient Sparks:

• Direct Purchase: Buy Ancient Sparks directly from the in-game store for 400 RP each.
• One-Time Bundle: Purchase the special bundle offering 1 Ancient Spark plus the exclusive "Enter the Sanctum" icon for 115 RP. This is a one-time offer per account and provides the best value.
• Battle Pass: Each Battle Pass includes 3 Ancient Sparks as rewards for progressing through the premium tier. At 1650 RP, the Battle Pass provides significantly better value since the 3 Ancient Sparks alone are worth 1200 RP, plus you receive numerous other rewards.

Unused Ancient Sparks can be refunded to RP within 14 days of purchase using a Refund Token, but any content drawn from the Sanctum cannot be refunded.

The number of rolls required depends on the skin tier you're targeting. Exalted skins have a 0.5% base drop rate and are guaranteed within 80 pulls, making the maximum cost approximately 32,000 RP. Mythic Variants require 40 pulls for guaranteed acquisition, costing approximately 16,000 RP.

The Sanctum includes bad-luck protection for A-Tier rewards, guaranteeing one prize within 10 Ancient Sparks. If A-Tier and S-Tier protections overlap, the system prioritizes S-Tier rewards. Your progress toward these guarantees is tracked within the Sanctum and carries over between banners of the same type, though Exalted and Mythic Variant progress remains separate.

You might get lucky and unlock your desired skin much earlier than the guaranteed threshold. The system prevents duplicates, so once you've unlocked content, you won't receive it again from any pool. If you've already obtained all S-Tier or A-Tier rewards and continue pulling, you'll receive Mythic Essence instead of duplicate items.
