What is a Battle Pass?

League of Legends Battle Pass is a seasonal reward system that lets players earn cosmetics and other rewards by simply playing the game. As any other game, it comes in two versions:

• Free track available to all players
• Paid track that usually unlocks for 1,650 RP

As you play matches and complete daily, weekly, and act-long missions, you earn Battle Pass XP that pushes you through reward milestones, which include skins, emotes, banners, and more.

Starting in 2025, Riot restructured the system around a three-season-per-year format, with each season having two Battle Passes tied to its theme. Each year is divided into three themed seasons — each focusing on a region or universe from Runeterra — and the Battle Pass content reflects that theme across skins and rewards. There will always be an active pass running, so there is no gap between reward periods the way there used to be with older event passes.

How Much Are Battle Passes in League?

Most League of Legends Battle Passes are available in three pricing tiers:

• 1,650 RP— The base version, which unlocks the full paid reward track.
• 2,650 RP— Includes everything in the base version, plus an exclusive chroma for the Prestige skin tied to the Battle Pass and a Prestige Emote.
• 3,650 RP— Includes everything in the previous tier, plus 10 additional Battle Pass levels, an exclusive icon, and 25 Mythic Essence.

That said, not every Battle Pass follows this pricing structure. Some passes come with their own unique pricing, like the Hall of Legends Battle Pass, which was priced at 1,950 RP due to its 100-level progression and exclusive content. On top of that, certain Battle Passes are completely free, offering rewards like banners, emotes, and other basic cosmetics without requiring any RP investment.
