Nexus Blitz Guide: Events, Rewards, and Tips

Nexus Blitz is a temporary game mode in League of Legends that occasionally gets released around major events and launches.
The mode is 5v5, with two Junglers and three laners. The two Junglers typically play together, two players take the bottom lane, and one player handles the mid lane. Along the way, players pick up empowerments like Summoner Spell haste, bonus mana regeneration, extra magic damage, reduced recall timers, empowered recalls, and home guards, as well as increased XP.
In this article, we'll cover everything you need to know about Nexus Blitz, from how the mode works to the best ways to make the most of it.
Nexus Blitz Game Modes

Random Blitz events happen every 3 to 3:30 minutes, and on average, you will see two to three of them per game. The first event gets announced in the bottom left of the champion select screen, so try to pick a champion that fits that mode when you can. Here is a breakdown of each event, starting with the final game mode.
Event | Objective | Key Tip |
|---|---|---|
Sudden Death | Destroy the enemy Nexus first after both move to the center | Clear the enemy team before focusing on the Nexus |
Protect the Soraka | Kill the enemy Soraka before they kill yours | Group up, don't split |
Scuttle Racing | Get your Scuttle Crab to the finish line first | Stack CC to keep the enemy Crab locked down |
King of the Hill | Capture a point by standing in it uncontested | Stay in the zone or kill enemies inside it |
Prize Fight | 2v2, 2v2, 1v1 — kill the enemy | Focus on the same target as your partner in 2v2s |
Push the Cart | Push your cart by standing in the zone | Kill enemies to stop their cart from moving |
Loot the Teemo / Veigar | Kill the boosted champion to claim the bonus | Kill contesting enemies before going for the objective |
URF Deathmatch | Win the most rounds in a URF circle fight | Buy and upgrade items between rounds |
Bardle Royale | Survive a shrinking circle (3 variants) | Recall before it starts and go in with full HP |
DPS Check | Deal more damage to the Dummy than the enemy in 75 seconds | Line up AOE to hit both the Dummy and enemies |
Rewards and Buffs

When you win an event, you get a reward. Here is a breakdown of everything you can earn.
Event | Objective | Key Tip |
|---|---|---|
Catapult | Launch yourself to any location on the map | Land on enemies to knock them up and deal damage |
Bless of Blitzcrank | Allied cannon minions, super minions, and turrets pull nearby enemies | Use it to lock enemies in place for your team to follow up |
Poro King | Poro King pushes mid and helps secure objectives | Keep him alive and let him do the heavy lifting |
Battle Sled | Ride a sled across the map, and your team can join | Hit enemies to knock them back, avoid walls, or everyone flies off |
Guardian Angels | Your entire team gets Guardian Angel for 90 seconds | Playaggressively — dying isn't as punishing during this window |
Statikk Shock | Auto attacks zap nearby enemies with chain lightning | Group enemies together to maximize the chain hits |
BF Shields | Your team gains a large shield that blocks incoming damage | Engage immediately while the shield is active |
Mega Cloud Drake | The winning team gets a burst of movement speed out of combat | Use the speed to rotate and chase down enemies quickly |
Mega Ocean Drake | Rapidly restore health and mana while out of combat for 3 minutes | Step back briefly between fights to top off before re-engaging |
Aspect of the Dragon | Executes enemies below 20% health, similar to the Elder Dragon buff | Don't waste resources finishing low HP enemies, let the buff do it |
Jungle Camps

In Nexus Blitz, you will have two Junglers on your team. They take turns clearing camps together, with one Smiting the first camp and the other Smiting the second. Most teams start on the top side of the map, clearing the Gromp and Wolves at the same time before rotating down to the Golems and Raptors.
A few important things to keep in mind. You cannot swap out of the jungle role once it has been assigned, so commit to it. Stick with your Jungle partner for the majority of the game and clear camps together. There is no reason to split up and farm separately, and doing so will only put you both in a weaker position.
Final Words
Nexus Blitz is only around for a limited time, so make the most of it while you can. It is a fun, fast-paced mode that does not take itself too seriously, and neither should you. Jump in, try out some new champions, and enjoy the chaos.
